A Mother’s Day Story Sewn With Love

Some businesses begin with a business plan.
Others begin with a dream.

Melissa’s Stitches began with motherhood.

When I became a mother to my twins, Gustavo and Sofia, my life changed completely. Like so many moms, I wanted every little detail around my babies to feel special, personal, and filled with love. With a small sewing machine at home and a heart full of ideas, I started creating pieces for them myself — tiny outfits, personalized details, keepsakes that celebrated each moment of their childhood.

At the time, I could never imagine that those quiet moments at home, sewing between the routines of motherhood, would one day become a business that would touch families all around.

But maybe, deep down, the seeds had been planted much earlier.

My own mother, Sônia Beatriz, was also an entrepreneur. In the early 1990s, she owned a store for a well-known fashion brand inside a mall in Brazil. Around the age of 15, I had my very first job there. I helped with sales, customer service, organization, and daily responsibilities inside the store.

Without realizing it, I was learning lessons that would stay with me forever.

I learned how important it is to welcome people warmly.
How every customer has a story.
How details matter.
How businesses grow when they are built with care, dedication, and heart.

Those experiences helped shape my passion for entrepreneurship, creativity, sales, and connecting with people.

Today, it is an incredible honor for us to be part of so many meaningful family moments. From pregnancy announcements and newborn sets to “watch me grow” outfits, birthdays, celebrations, and milestones through the years — every order carries a little piece of someone’s story.

And that means everything to us.

This Mother’s Day, I want to celebrate all mothers — the ones creating memories every day, the ones building dreams while raising children, the ones teaching through love and example.

And especially, I want to honor my mother, Sônia Beatriz.

Thank you for your strength, your example, your work ethic, and the lessons that helped me become who I am today. Without you, Melissa’s Stitches would never have existed.

To every mother reading this:
Your love leaves a legacy, often in ways you may never fully see.

Happy Mother’s Day. 💖
